With that said, let's focus on what we can do to get the weight loss going again. As you know, everybody is different. Some people respond better to low carb diets; others to low fat diets. Some people do better with vigorous weight-lifting; others excel with more cardio. Some people have to exercise a little every morning and night; others do best with one or two longer workouts per week. If you are not seeing any progress, your diet may not match with your body type. If that is the case, then it is time to shake things up.

If you are not having success, I want you to experiment with different foods, exercises, plans, etc. Give a new program a good run (at least 1 month) and see if you have made any progress. If you did, GREAT - stick with that program for as long as it takes you to reach your weight-loss goals. If you did not make any progress, GREAT - you now know what does not work. By switching your routine and eliminating all the diets that have not helped, you will eventually find that PERFECT DIET that helps you lose weight and that you enjoy.

Did I say enjoy? Yes, I did. Your diet should be enjoyable. Keep in mind, almost all diet programs will help you lose weight IF YOU STICK WITH THEM. If a diet is not enjoyable, guess what. You won't stick with it, and you will not lose any weight. So your diet NEEDS TO BE ENJOYABLE.

So what tweaks will improve a diet? Try eating more or less frequently. Most people have heard that you should eat 5-6 smaller meals every day. In truth, the type of food you eat is more important than the timing. If you feel better eating two big meals a day, then try doing that. As long as you still eat healthy foods, you can maintain your weight loss with a few large, satisfying meals.

You can also try adjusting the macronutrient ratios of your diet (fat, protein, and carbs). Most people will need to go on high-fat diets in order to lose weight. The additional dietary fat transforms your body into a fat-burning machine. The decreased carbohydrate intake will reduce insulin secretion, leading to less absorption of glucose into your fat tissue.

Also, make sure to vary your exercises. After a while, your body adapts to a certain set of physical movement. As your muscles repeat the movement day-after-day, your body becomes more efficient at that movement. This means you will burn fewer calories while performing the same exercise. To minimize this effect, you should always be looking for new exercises to add to your routine.
