Proper diet
Following a proper dieting program is the key to losing those extra calories. The major cause of obesity has been identified as bad eating unhealthy foods coupled with lack of exercise. For you to achieve any milestone in weight loss, you have to be consistent with your healthy diet plan. This does not mean that you should abruptly stop eating foods that you previously used to enjoy! Doing so will only increase the urge to eat these foods and when you give in to the urge-because you will surely do, you feel like a failure. If you are inclined to sugary, salty and all kinds of unhealthy foods, the first step should be to reduce the portion of these foods you consume daily. You should also try to eat them less often. Fruits and vegetables

Healthy alternatives for proteins include poultry, eggs, and fish. Some of the meat products are healthy as they contain low amounts of fat. Other healthy sources of proteins include nuts, kidney beans, textured vegetable protein and mycoproteins.

Milk and milk products such as cheese, fromage, frais and yoghurt are also healthy. However, you should avoid butter and cream.

Foods high in sugar, salt and fat should be avoided. Soft drinks, ice-cream, sweets, biscuits, cakes and others are high in sugar and should be avoided.


Exercise
Proper diet is complemented by routine exercise. Prior to taking your breakfast, you should do your cardio exercises. This is the best time to exercise since your body has more energy when you wake up. You can engage in simple cardio exercises such as running, walking, cycling and aerobics. Prior to taking your breakfast, the blood sugar is low. This means that your body will acquire energy for exercising from fat stored. Exercising in the morning keeps your metabolism level high throughout the day hence burning fat.


Build lean muscle
Lean muscle in the body helps to increase the rate of metabolism in the body, which increases the rate of fat burning. Strength training can be important in developing lean muscle in your body. The more muscle you gain the more fat you burn.
